Les Bleus scored one goal in each half.

Both sides paraded a strong midfield ensuring a battle for the supremacy in the center of the pitch. With that It was foreseen by bookmakers that, it will only take a set piece to book a ticket to the semis.

Nevertheless, the hero for France in Argentina game Kylian Mbappe was taken care of by the backline of Uruguay. The French floated balls into the eighteen yard box with consistency. This earned a free-kick through an infringement on Corentin Tolisse in the attacking half by Rodrigo Bentancur(Uruguay) who was trying to prevent more crosses. The freekick resulted into a goal. It was a header by Rapheal Varane on the 40th minute of the match. The goal was assisted by Antoine Griezeman.

After the goal the Uruguayans kept plying pressure on the French in search of an equaliser before halftime. Their pressure didn’t result into much despite the onslaught from Careres and Suarez on Umtiti upfront.

In the second 45 minutes Uruguayans kept on plying the pressure to try and score the equaliser. Unfortunately that left them vulnerable on the counter.
On the 61st minute France made them pay though some would blame it on Muslera’s howler. Griezmann, the Atletico Madrid Star powered a left footed shot from outside the eighteen yard towards goal which should have been a routine save but instead Muslera ended up parrying the ball into his own net. It put the match out reach of Uruguay. The match ended 2-0 in favour of France.
