WESTERN REGION TIPPER TRUCK DRIVERS DEMONSTRATE AGAINST LUXURY CARS TAX COLLECTION

Honourable Kennedy Ofori Attah during the budget review stated that Luxury cars tax collection will soon commence.

This statement affected the tipper drivers since they are not inclusive when it concerns luxury cars.

Drivers were charged GH¢ 170 but now they are charged GH¢ 2,170 for the Road worthy fees.

Sekondi Takoradi Tipper Truck Drivers have held a demonstration to plead with the Minister of Finance to exclude them from the collection of the luxury cars tax collection.

Mr Nyamadi Chairman for the Nkroful Tipper Truck drivers Association ,during in an interview with Samuel K. Mensah Jnr AKA Blacqsam on National Affairs aired on Help 103.9 FM,
said
“The current price for a truck of single axle sand is sold for GH¢300 depending on the distance covered by the driver, and a double axle truck of sand is sold at GH¢600 or 700 also depending on the distance the driver covers, and if Honourable Kennedy Ofori Attah does not grant their petition by excluding them from this Luxury cars tax collection, just as the prices of the road worthy levies have risen so will the prices for the sand and stone rise”.

Mr Nyamadi added that they will announce at once when they increase the price for the sand and stone to the media.
